July Successes

  1. A member of the Bradford IWW has recently managed to secure £300 of missing wages that was owed to a worker at a retail store in Bradford. After phoning up the boss, and with a bit of bluffing about the legal ramifications, managed to get the worker his missing wages by the next working day. This fellow worker only asked for minimal help from other union members too.
  2. Another member has secured over £800 of unpaid wages despite management obstruction.Working long hours left no time for this member to check their pay. It was made more complicated by poorly written contracts and pro rata pay (for part time work). Our member noticed things weren’t right but struggled to work out why.

With some words of encouragement from other members the worker confronted management. They sent our member round the houses in what we can only assume was an attempt to put us off – it didn’t work!

This fellow worker has learned a lot about pro rata holiday pay. They hope to make a useful guide for others who work part time to calculate the holiday pay they are entitled to which could give them more confidence in challenging their employer.
